Installation Requirements for Diesel Generators

  • Ensure good ventilation to prevent exhaust gas poisoning in confined spaces.

  • The foundation shall be level and stable; shock absorption, noise reduction and exhaust treatment shall be provided when necessary.

  • Keep away from flammable materials and install fire extinguishers.

  • Reliable earthing shall be provided to prevent electric leakage.

Professional Extended Version

  1. Ventilation and Exhaust System
Install sufficient air inlets and outlets to ensure fresh air supply for combustion and rapid exhaust of waste gas.
Exhaust pipes shall be properly sealed and led outdoors to avoid carbon monoxide accumulation.
Do not install in basements, narrow rooms or poorly ventilated enclosed areas.
  2. Foundation and Fixing
The installation base must be firm, level and able to bear the full weight and vibration of the generator.
For fixed installation, concrete foundation is recommended.
Shock absorbers shall be installed between the unit and the base to reduce vibration transmission and structural noise.
Exhaust pipes shall be equipped with soft connections to avoid stress and cracking.
  3. Fire Safety
The unit shall be placed at a safe distance from combustibles, fuel tanks, chemicals and other flammable materials.
The fuel storage area shall be separated, fireproof and leak-proof.
Equip with suitable fire extinguishers and ensure unobstructed fire access.
  4. Electrical Safety
The unit must be reliably grounded to prevent electric shock, lightning damage and equipment interference.
Cables shall be properly sized, laid safely and protected against wear and water.
For three-phase generators, ensure phase sequence is correct and wiring is standard.
Install overcurrent, overload and leakage protection devices.
  5. Space and Maintenance Access
Reserve sufficient space around the unit for daily inspection, maintenance, fuel addition and repair.
Keep the control panel, cooling system and exhaust pipe unobstructed.
  6. Noise and Emission Compliance
For urban, residential or noise-sensitive areas, additional sound insulation barriers or enhanced silencers are required.
Exhaust emissions shall comply with local environmental protection standards.

Continuous Operation Reference

  1. Medium-sized units (20kW–100kW):

It is recommended to operate continuously for 12–24 hours and rest for 2–4 hours.
